It all started with a TV ad.

As a proudly South African tech house, we’re surrounded by iconic brands, but the new Eskort Braai-Lux campaign hit differently. The concept was pure gold: the legendary toughness of a Toyota Hilux combined with the universal joy of an Eskort braai. It wasn't just an ad; it was a feeling. A feeling so strong it sparked an idea in our creative lab, XRobotix's experimental AI band, Kodesangers.

The question was simple: What if we did more than just write a song about it? What if we used our own tools to join the conversation?

The Process: From Ad to Anthem to AI

Our philosophy at XRobotix is built on Agile Solution Architecture, but also on Creative & Artistic Innovation. We don't just build platforms; we explore the intersection of technology and art. This project became the perfect, unsanctioned testing ground.

Here’s what we did:

  1. The Anthem: We wrote and produced "Die Braai-Lux Anthem," a heartfelt, proudly local track celebrating the dream of the ultimate braai on wheels.
  2. The Inspiration: We took the official Eskort TV commercial as our source material.
  3. The AI Prompt: We fed the footage into a generative AI model with a simple, quintessentially South African instruction: "Wys ons die droom, my bru!" (Show us the dream, my friend!).
  4. The Result: The AI went to work, dreaming up scenes to fill the gaps, expand the world, and even add a few robotic friends to the party. We then edited this AI-generated footage with clips from the original ad to create a seamless, surreal, and hilarious music video.


The Challenge: Can You Spot the Bot?

This is where it gets fun. We invite you to watch the video and test your eyes. Some scenes are real, beautifully shot by a professional crew for the original advert. Others were born in the digital mind of a machine.

A Note to the Big Guns (and the "Skimping")

Disclaimer: This entire project is an unofficial, unsolicited fan tribute. It was created out of a genuine love for these brands and a passion for pushing creative boundaries. No permissions were sought from Eskort Food or Toyota SA, and they are not formally involved in this madness.

That said, to the teams at Eskort and Toyota, we hope you see this as the highest form of flattery. Your campaign inspired us to work, to create, and to innovate.

PS: The band (Kodesangers) is currently skimping and spending every rand on ribs to win the real Braai-Lux... but a sponsored one would obviously be much, much better. Just saying. 😉


The Takeaway: More Than Just Fun and Games

While this project started as a creative experiment, it accidentally became a powerful case study on the future of marketing. It demonstrates how generative AI can be used not to replace creativity, but to augment it—enabling rapid prototyping of ideas, generating unique visual assets, and creating brand conversations that are authentic, engaging, and deeply memorable.

It’s proof that with the right blend of human insight and technological power, the possibilities are truly limitless.
